Here’s a scenario for you.
You’re an NFL quarterback. A starter no less.
You’re coming off a Super Bowl season. One that you actually won.
You’re a couple of months removed from all the celebrating. And just a couple of months out from the heart of training camp.
You’re young. The youngest QB to ever win a Championship.
You’re popular. And your entire career’s ahead of you.
Outside of taking a boat ride with some Vikings, attending classes with Ricky Williams, or signing a free-agent contract with the Chiefs, what the most stupid, inane thing you can do at this point in your young career?
Climb aboard a motorcycle.
As you’ve likely heard, Ben Roethlisberger has been in what’s being called a “serious” motorcycle accident. It’s uncertain at this time whether or not this will be a career-ending situation, but at the very least I’d expect it to be career limiting.
What insurance company in their right mind would grant a policy on a motorcycle to any professional athlete? Outside of cops, I can’t believe there’s a breed of human that feels more invincible than professional athletes.
On the upside, it looks like Pittsburgh will officially have a “steel plater” on their team.
