Marneus Prose

Based on actual events:

Marneus is silently creeping up the ramp on Ascension that leads up from the circular platform. There is a red dot coming toward him, completely oblivious to the fact that he is about to run headlong into Marneus, his doom. Marneus thumbs off the safeties of his two Buffies (SMGs, figure it out...), and patiently waits. The dot turns out to be Chappy. He looks lost and confused. He clearly hates to fight at this location, and Marneus willingly puts him out of his misery. It's mercifully quick.

Next he hears the 'crack, crack' of a sniper rifle, coming from the sniper roost above him. Dakota Skye is above, in one of his two, well-known hidey holes on this map. Marneus sneaks around and looks up the ramp. Sure enough, little miss Dakota Fanning, I mean Skye, is up there with her little sniper rifle. A quick and painless pistol-whip to the back of the head ends her delusions of grandeur.

Just then he hears the 'vreeeem' of someone jumping up the anti-grav lift from the rocket platform. Must be Porqchop the rocket camper. Marneus hops down from the sniper roost in time to see Porq firing up at someone in the far tower (The reincarnated little miss Fanning must be heading to spot #2...). Porq sees Marneus in time and fires. Quick as a jungle cat, Marneus jumps the second missle and only takes a flesh wound. Porq is frantically backing up while attempting to reload the only weapon he canget kills with. Little does he know, but when Marneus jumped, he also threw a frag grenade that skittered behind the Chop. Chop's face registers the sure knowledge of his demise as soon as the grenade goes off and shoots shrapnel up his rear end. A few quick shots from Marneus' remaining Buffy sends the Porq to hoggie heaven.

Marneus grabs Porq's unused Buffy to go with his own and reloads as he turns his attention to his remaining opponent. The Gov must be lurking around the shotgun ramp. Mustn't let him get close enough to use it. Marneus cuts across the large dish but doesn't pick up any movement on his tracker. He skirts the top of the cliff and looks down at the level below. Nothing. Marneus jumps down. Bang, the Gov was crouching under the cliff edge and has scored a hit with his shotgun. Fortunately, Marneus had jumped to the middle of the platform, and so didn't take it full on. He swings his SMGs around and begins firing squarely in the face of the Gov as the Gov pumps another round in the chamber. Blam! Marneus' low shield warning is blaring in his ear. He keeps the Buffies trained, holds the triggers, and hopes for the best as the Gov reloads again and takes aim. Marneus can see the Gov's finger starting to squeeze the trigger when the SMGs finally finish their job. The Gov is impeached. He was ruining this state anyway...

Marneus quickly looks around for somewhere to hole up and recharge his shield when he hears two sounds that signify the end of the road. The skittering in of Porqchop's grenade, and the simeltaneous crack of Dakota's sniper rifle...
